Process Engineer

Position: Process Engineer, Premier Investment Casting Group LLC dba Bimac Precision Castings, Dayton, OH

Duties: The process engineer in this investment casting operation is a key position for all improvement activities and estimating product cost in customer quotations. Improvement activity includes, for example, changes to materials and vendors, and recommendations for new equipment. Create casting drawings using 3D CAD software, Alibre Design. Design Castings, Casting Mold Gating and Risers, as well as processes and procedures from part prints, models, sketches, and files. Design, optimize, and manage the entire investment casting process to meet design requirements for current and new products. Perform Casting Solidification modeling simulations (via SolidCast software). Responsible for all new/updated engineering drawings, manuals, etc., ensuring they are stored and filed in a central file system. Review and interpret customer-supplied drawings and specifications to ensure new products meet the company’s strategic planning. Review and record daily performance data collected from the manufacturing process into the ERP system. Generate and implement quality inspection criteria. Inspect prototype patterns and finished castings per drawings and record dimensions. Customer and Vendor interface to formulate technical requirements and business needs. Customer response/answers to quality and engineering inquiries. Customer sales order processing, review, and entry into the ERP system (Synchro). Customers visit with w/Management, Sales, or at Customer request. Responsible for reviewing RFQs, ensuring they meet our manufacturing guidelines, and returning them promptly to the customer. Create and maintain job routers that adequately capture the process required to manufacture raw material into finished goods. Enter and modify engineering data into the ERP system (Synchro). Generate job cards and engineering data sheets from customer-supplied drawings and other specifications. Identify and implement improvement strategies for cost, productivity, downtime, and scrap. Responsible for incoming raw materials and products inspection. Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure issues are addressed and resolved promptly. Observe and follow all safety regulations. Travel to customer sites throughout the United States for less than 10% of the year.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering. Master's Degree in Materials Science Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering. 2 years of experience in investment casting/manufacturing. 2 years of experience working with a team of individuals. 1 year of experience working with Quality Management Systems, ISO. Excellent IT proficiency and ability to learn sophisticated simulation software. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft products. Knowledge of Six Sigma methodology, including all tools and applications to execute projects. Dependable with good attendance record. Familiar with/ Environmental, Health & Safety regs.
